Janie P. (Magazine Technology Manager)My first thought is to say that Dr. Weinstein saved me, but it’s actually better than that. He helped me save myself. When I first came to Pinecrest Wellness Center almost a year ago, I was desperate for help with a heel spur. I’d had several cortisone shots, which did provide relief, but the length of time between shots had been getting shorter and shorter -- and I had a real concern that the cortisone was not good for the bone around the spur. When I limped into Dr. Weinstein’s office on that first day, I was a mess . . . suffering from frequent headaches, knee pain, heel pain, back pain, fatigue -- and the list just goes on, including the extra 100 pounds I was carrying around on my 5’2" frame. I was impressed from the start with his interest in my medical history and with the time he spent talking with me and listening. And, as I look back, I’m impressed, too, that he was able to resist saying, "You’re a mess!" Resist he did, though, and from that very first visit he and his staff have made me feel valued -- and that nothing is impossible. We started with x-rays, followed by a few regular visits involving Chiropractic adjustments and rehabilitation therapy in the office, and I began to feel better right away -- but I had far to go. Just that little bit of improvement made a believer out of me and I have followed Dr. Weinstein’s instructions to the letter since that day. I learned how to use a heart rate monitor to exercise efficiently (aerobically) and during the rehabilitation periods I developed a pattern of regular strength building exercise. In addition, I learned some new facts about the value of proper nutrition and supplements in rebuilding my health. When I had completed the rehabilitation sessions with Dr. Weinstein, I joined a fitness club and have worked out regularly since then. My exercise program is still based on those first rehabilitation exercises. I continue to see Dr. Weinstein monthly and still consider myself to be a work in progress -- but I’ve had some amazing successes. My life is dramatically different from the way it was a year ago. My heel pain is completely gone and my husband and I power walk every day. Also gone: headaches, knee pain, back pain, fatigue -- and over 90 pounds! I continue to exercise aerobically, strength train and attend exercise classes at the fitness club . . . and my husband (now, also a patient of Dr. Weinstein) sometimes calls me a "gym rat." All of these changes are wonderful, but the best of all: after 10 years of taking medication for hypertension, I’ve recently been able to stop taking it completely -- with the blessing of my internist and a cardiologist! Do I think Dr. Weinstein is great? You bet I do! Do I credit him with helping me do this? You bet I do! Do I recommend him to everyone I know? You bet I do! Good things are happening at Pinecrest Wellness Center and people’s lives are being changed. |
