CHIROPRACTIC EFFECTIVE FOR CHRONIC WHIPLASH
A 1999 study reported in the Journal of Orthopaedic Medicine
[21(1):22-25] finds that chiropractic was very effective in the care of patients
who suffer from chronic problems caused by whiplash injuries.
The fact that chiropractic is effective for whiplash injuries is well known.
The authors point out that a previous study presented in the journal Injury [1996;27:643-645]
"found improvement in chronic symptoms in 26 of 28 patients (93%) following
chiropractic [care]."
As a result, the current study focused on "which patients with chronic
whiplash will benefit from chiropractic [care]."
The researchers then went on to state that "our results confirm the
[effectiveness] of chiropractic, with 69 of our 93 patients (74%) improving
following [care]."
"The results from this study provide further evidence that chiropractic is
an effective treatment for chronic whiplash symptoms."
We would like to add that this study focused on dealing with chronic problems
associated with whiplash long after the injury. It's best to attend to
trauma-induced spinal injuries as soon as possible. This helps assure that the
injuries are less likely to become chronic in nature.
Anyone involved in a whiplash-type injury, no matter how seemingly minor,
should have their spine checked for damage by a chiropractor as soon as
possible.
"New and stirring things are belittled because if they are not belittled,
the humiliating question arises, 'Why then are you not taking part in
them?'"
